“The gap between intention and outcome is closed by follow-through.”
Peter Drucker (1909–2005)
Where across the course of your day today, could you consider where it might be that your success lies not in starting something new, but in following up on the work you have already begun, yet left unfinished or incomplete?
Today is Follow-Up Friday.
Each week, I map my work with intention, with each day having a particular focus and a specific purpose.
I write for a non-negotiable two hours, and for at least four hours, I give my full attention to one specific part of my business.
But Fridays are different.
Friday is not about casting new lines; it’s about pulling in the nets.
It’s the day I circle back on conversations started, proposals sent, ideas shared, and promises made.
Not out of pressure, but out of respect.
Respect for my own word, and respect for the people on the other end of it.
So much momentum is lost not because people lack ideas, energy, or talent, but because they don’t return to what’s already in motion.
Follow-up isn’t chasing; it’s closing loops.
It’s checking off your to-do lists that may still be left to do.
It’s honouring intent with action, even if that is calling your Mum.
It’s the quiet work that turns effort into outcome.
Sometimes the work that changes everything isn’t starting again; it’s finishing what you said you would.
While you’re thinking about that, think about this and have a Gr8 day!
Be well,
DL
“The work isn’t finished when it’s sent. It’s finished when it’s followed through.”
Jason Fried (1974– )
